Art from Around the School
Jose Ortega Elementary School receives designated funds to provide arts education through an artist-in-residence program. Each year, the staff decides what the artistic focus will be, and a lead teacher organizes the residencies with the principal. This year we are working with three different arts professionals to focus on visual arts, performing arts, and creative writing.
These are some examples of the student art found throughout the school.
Chinese New Year 2008 Art
For the very first time, Jose Ortega Elementary School participated in the 2008 Chinese New Year Parade. Some students drew animals which represent the animals from the Chinese Zodiac. Some of these drawings were used for the standards in the parade and also for the custom designed sweatshirt worn by parade participants.
