Get ready for the 2024 Move-a-Thon! Together we can get active and healthy and raise some much needed funds for our school! Volunteers and students will receive a Move-a-Thon shirt!

When & Where?  At school on Friday, October 4, 2024 – Students will be challenged with an exciting obstacle course in the yard with their classes!

When does Fundraising start? It has begun! Register on PledgeStar to get started! It’s SUPER easy!

Why a Move-a-Thon?:  It's a fun and healthy way to get our bodies active and raise much needed funds for the many programs that make Jose Ortega great like science and art programs, teacher support, recess monitors, student enrichment activities, school greening and more!

Our goal is to raise or exceed $40,000! That’s a BIG number but with your support we can do it. If each student is able to meet the challenge of raising $100 in donations, we will have achieved our fundraising goal! That's as easy as getting 5 people to donate $20 each, or 10 people to donate $10 each!

PRIZES FOR STUDENTS!

  • Each week leading up to the Move-a-thon, every student who sends out 10 or more PledgeStar emails or text messages will be entered into a lottery for a Starbucks/Marugame Udon/U:Dessert Story gift card.

  • The grand prize of a Instant Print Camera will be awarded to the student with the most number of pledges received overall. This includes pledges received from email links and texts through PledgeStar, through social media posts as well as cash and check donations.

  • Classes with 75% participation will win their class’s chosen prize! It could be extra recess, a movie day, or even a popsicle party!

  • Every student who raises $100 or more will be entered into a raffle to attend a movie party hosted by the principals!

  • School prize if we meet our fundraising goal - pajama day!

Collect Pledges Online with PledgeStar:

The fundraising window opens on October 4. Use Pledgestar, a web-based fundraising system that makes it super easy to request pledges from family and friends, and to make secure credit card donations online (or by check). It's fun, easy, and people who use it typically raise twice as much as those who don't!

  2. Enter your name and email address, then click Register

  3. Follow the instructions on-screen

The system will email and/or text pledge requests directly to your family and friends as well as providing a link to share on social media.  The site takes care of the rest!  

For families with multiple children, only one registration is needed and donations will be split evenly among your children.
