Principal

My name is Paula Antram, and I am honored to be the principal at Jose Ortega. A little background about me is: I was born and raised in San Francisco’s Sunset District. When I am not at school, you can find me spending time with my family, knitting/crocheting, or watching a good baseball game.

My professional background is rooted in education. I have always been passionate about how children learn and believe all children can learn. I have over ten years of experience in education ranging from preschool to elementary. I always keep students at the center of my decision making and planning.

I look forward to working with you all to help your child grow, succeed, and become the best versions of themselves.

Betty CheunG

Assistant Principal

I'm Betty Cheung, and I am proud to be the Assistant Principal of JOES. I'm a San Francisco native and a proud SFUSD graduate. My goal is to ensure that every student's educational journey is meaningful and empowering, by creating an environment where students can tap into their creativity, enjoy the learning process, and become agents of their own learning.

Throughout my career in education, I've held onto three core values: joy, creativity, and agency. These values have guided my path from the beginning, and they're the reasons I chose this profession. I believe education should be a transformative experience, equipping our students with the skills they need thrive while preserving their sense of self.

I'm committed to working closely with our staff, students, and parents to make JOES a special place for everyone. I'm proud to be part of this community and excited to be in partnership with you all!
